Fireflies are some of our most beloved insects: celebrated in art, music, and literature, and contributing to numerous advances in medicine and our understanding of evolution, genetics, and ecology.
Somewhat surprisingly, fireflies receive relatively little conservation attention.
Fireflies as a kid are magical, now when we go outside on summer nights we see 50% of the amount I used too, living in the country here in Canada.
There is an urgent need to study firefly populations more closely to fully understand their plight and ensure conservation efforts are effective.
A few ways to participate

2- take care of fireflies by reducing light pollution: Dim or turn off unnecessary outdoor lights. Use shielded, downward-facing lights and motion sensors for necessary lighting. Avoid pesticides, Preserve habitat, and
Support conservation like ours. Advocate for firefly protection.
